Epitaph Grimwick was taken from us by being smothered in hot sauce and milk, then burned to death.
Obituary Grimwick (full name: Grim and Whimsical Tales of the Other Side by Alexander Wick) was a scriptorii, a magical being made from a book. Grimwick came into existence when a human scholar called Alexander Wick entered the Feywild and committed the heinous sin of recording the songs and stories of the fey people. The words he wrote were so beautiful that the pages themselves came to life, creating Grimwick. Sadly, Alexander was cursed by the fey to die for his sin, but Grimwick survived to carry on his legacy.

Appropriately, Grimwick died when he got pulled into a meta-narrative adventure where the very nature of his being was called into question. He died when the party he was forced to fight alongside went up against a hell hound which burned him to death. He was instantly brought back to life by some strange magical thread that tied him to his friends. In the final battle against Alton Brown (star of Cutthroat Kitchen) he gave everything he had to his friend Varis Bog, as did their other friends Jack Marrow and Guy Fieri who helped to transform Varis with the power of love into a courageous spaghetti monster.

In the end, Varis was the only one who didn't "die" in the game, so he was able to move through the threshold of safety. Through there, he found the truth: existence was just a dnd game.
