Vark died trying to get his food truck back when a wild magic surge caused an untimely combustion

Obituary:

Vark Baitworm was a gambler who lost his only legitimate business (a food truck from which he planned to sell cheap, shitty burgers) in a bad game of poker. Those who took his truck also kidnapped him and subjected him to unethical experiments that awakened his sorcery. He escaped this dubious cult with the leader's magic crystal and returned to his friends alive. The group of them returned to the cult and destroyed it together, but when Vark cast his third ever spell to kill the last cultist, a wild magic surge caused him to cast fireball at 3rd-level centred on himself. 30 fire damage was 5 times his hit point maximum, and he died instantly along with 5 other people including a cleric who considered herself a friend of his. His soul was then absorbed by the crystal he'd stolen (which the leader revealed to be a J.O. crystal) and his only surviving friend, Zoria the Big-Tittied, kept the crystal to safeguard his soul and keep it alive with her own J.O. energy.
