Obituary:

My name is Roude Dhaer.  I come from a long line of Cthulhuian High Priests.  My family owns the Ruldegost Villa in the Sea Ward of Waterdeep.  At the age of 15, the eldest male of my family is baptized in the name of the Great Cthulhu.  Our bodies are bathed in the frigid water from deepest reaches of the ocean. We are then encased in a clay made of purified sea salt and Greenblood Oil.  Once we are cleansed, we are forced to battle a Sahuagin using our family’s ancestral blade, U Thal, and consume it’s still beating heart.  Upon the completion of our baptism we are fitted with the mask of the High Priest of the Deep One: the face we use when serving our Master.

This ritual reveals to us the secrets of the universe and begins our unending search for power to discover the path to free our ancient master.  

My father, Roulyeh, disappeared almost a year ago.  He had become obsessed with a place known as The Styes.  He raged about its connection to our Master.  His fervency was not unusual to our kind...but his obsession with this location was beyond anything I had ever seen.  When he left, many of our cult followed him: leaving everything behind.  All that remains of my cult is the Eldrich Council, the four elders who provide council and training to those they deem worthy, the Coven (the crones of our cult who have been granted gifts by our master) who despised my father, my father's second in command Ellis Adarbrent, and a small number of acolytes.  

Since his disappearance, what remains of our cult has looked to me for guidance.  Being only 28, and my training incomplete, I have thrown myself into the studies of the materials he left behind.  Ellis spoke of my father's involvement with the Dark Brotherhood but knew little more than the name of the group. Maybe they have some connection to his disappearance. 

My daily rituals and study have unlocked few secrets and have lead me to believe that my Master requires my service beyond my family estate. Armed with  U Tahl, I have set out to increase my knowledge and use the gifts Great Cthulhu has granted me in hopes of one day finding my father and, perhaps, even freeing our Master.

My mother died when I was young.  My father never spoke of her death: only that it was in service to our master.

I displeased my master when I attempted to kill the guard at the mine.  Though my mission to find my father pleases him, my rush to violence without thought of how my actions might effect my master were wrong.  I should seek to find information on my father's location through more charismatic means, and if violence is necessary, it should be done in the shadows and in a way that honors my master as I did with the harbormaster.

To remind me of this, my master placed a tattoo on my right arm of a tentacle that appears to move. It will sometimes control the arm or resist my actions when my master deems it necessary.
