Disintegrated by his Grandfather, a Lich.
Old Man Wilkinson lived for centuries before he was bullied into traveling with an adventuring group, and then he lead them, taught them, made them strong, as the most experienced among them.
I mean sure he was a coward and a liar, but he was a good mentor.
They fought ogres, and bandits, and orcs, and even a dragon, looted it's horde, and found magic mirrors, magic weapons, and a deck of many things, and then they went up against his grandfather, a Lich.
He struck him with a powerful Eldritch blast, and in return was hit with a disintegrate, that rolled nearly max damage.
And like that, Old Man Wilkinson was no more.
