Was slain by a fire giant deep within a lava cave.

Obituary:

Bixley would have told you that her first death was incredibly heroic.  It was  also kind of uncomfortable (the dead thing, not the heroism). 

The weird thing was, apparently dead doesn't always stay dead. Or rather, the weird part was waking up alone on the other side of the continent in a desert oasis thinking the afterlife was sandier that she imagined only to find out (an embarrassing number of months later) that actually it's just that someone resurrected her and then dumped her. And apparently they didn't just leave behind a breathing Bixley. Somehow when she woke there was something different. She was 90% sure she didn't used to be able to wish herself into a scorpion. Isn't life kind of wonderful? 

It wasn't all that wonderful at the time. Turned out the desert was filled with creature who would love nothing more than to munch some Gnome flesh. Lions were not cuddly and dragonborn could take a lesson in hospitality from the gnomes. But Bixley was pretty good at making friends and once she stopped panic-transforming into a creature every time she was startled, things went much better. The Empire of Vir was full of shiny things and interesting people, but wanderlust is serious business and after fifteen years it was time to move on. 

She ended up in Mohreg almost by accident. She was aiming for Delorak because, why not? But apparently the Delorakians weren't big on tourists so she kept moving west and found Mohreg. The port and the surprisingly good market for simple tinkered treasures kept her in the city several years longer than she planned, but she itches to see more of the world. She just needs something to point her in a new direction. In Mohreg she joined up with a group of adventurers bound for Delorak. For the first time since her clan, she belonged. Together they took on foes of all shapes and sizes, foiled evil plots, and helped the common folk.

Bixley’s second death was much more permanent than her first. Struck down in a vicious battle deep beneath the earth, far from anything she had ever known before, Bixley’s fell seconds after using the magic she never got a chance to understand to raise a fallen Pip. She died surrounded by friends. She died with a giant’s axe shoved through her spine. 

Death may not be the end of Bixley’s story. Bixley’s people believe the journey continues. But it’s the end of this chapter, the end of her time on this plane. It’s been a good chapter. Lonely at times, scary at others, but her final weeks were amazing. New friends, endless hijinx with Pip and Xif, something like a caring (if sometimes disapproving) uncle in Dickie, respect despite vast differences with Ryla. She had a new family in the end. Smaller than the one she first gave her life for, but no less cherished.
